Mindfulness and meditation are two related concepts that are often used interchangeably, but they are not the same. While both practices involve being present in the moment, there are key differences between them.

Meditation is a practice that involves training the mind to focus and achieve a centered, calm perspective. It allows for reflection on a particular object or thought, with the goal of improving concentration and gaining a broader understanding of philosophical subjects. This process requires deep, critical thinking about a specific topic or experience, engaging actively by asking questions, exploring ideas, and considering different perspectives. Mindfulness, on the other hand, is a state of active, open attention to the present moment. It entails being aware of our entire self, including bodily sensations, physiological processes, thoughts, feelings, energies, and our relationships with others and the world around us, all without judgment or distraction. Mindfulness encourages full engagement with the present moment, acknowledging past events that shape our current reality and considering how present actions will influence the future. This heightened awareness can help you recognize patterns in your thoughts and behaviors, enabling you to make more conscious choices in your life.
In essence, meditation is a specific practice that fosters mindfulness, while mindfulness itself is a state of being.
